What are Order Bumps and how to create them with Tentary
Order bumps are a helpful tool in e-commerce to increase the average order value. They offer customers an additional purchase at checkout, often in the form of a one-time offer or an add-on to the main product.
Benefits of Order Bumps
- Increase in revenue: Customers who are already ready to make a purchase often accept spontaneous additional offers.
- Better customer experience: Relevant additional products make customers feel better understood and valued.
- Efficiency: Order bumps utilize the existing sales process without additional effort.
Create an Order Bump
This is how you create an order bump at Tentary.
- Log into your Tentary account and select 'Products' > 'Order Bumps' from the menu
- Click the "+New Order Bump" button to create a new order bump.
- Fill in the details:
- Name: Enter the name of the order bump. This is not visible to customers.
- Status: Choose between 'Active' or 'Inactive'. Inactive order bumps will not be displayed at checkout.
- Which product will be offered as an order bump: Select one of your existing products to be used as an order bump.
- Which products will display the order bump: Decide whether the order bump should be displayed on all products or only certain products.
- Customize the order bump:
- Price and title: Optionally, you can add an offer price and title. Alternatively, the title and price of the product being used as an order bump will be used.
- Description: Add a description for the offer.
- Checkbox text: By default, the order bump displays a checkbox with the text "Yes, add to my order". This text can be overridden here.
- Hide product image: Activate this option if you do not want to display a product image in the order bump.
- Save: After entering all the information, click 'Save' to create and activate the order bump.
Use order bumps strategically to provide value to your customers while increasing your sales.
How does the checkout process change?
Customers pay for their order as usual at checkout (information about the checkout process), even if it includes order bumps. After purchase, customers are automatically redirected to the first or main product. However, they receive a notification that the order consists of multiple products and access to the additional products will be sent via email.
Customers receive a separate purchase confirmation email for each product they purchased (e.g., a main product and 2 order bumps). Invoices are also sent separately for each product if requested by customers.
However, all products in an order belong to a single order number (order management).
